Saint Carthage’s Cathedral is a unique heritage site in Irelands Ancient East and all are welcome to visit to engage with the building, its history and the spirituality that sustains it. Groups are also always welcome for a guided tour or a short retreat.

GRACED SPACE

The “Graced Space ” booklet was launched on Saint Carthage’s Day 2017
and, with floor map and excellent visual material, offers a guide to the
holiness and history of the Cathedral, the spirituality and architecture
without dividing them.

Bishop Michael in the Guide reflects that the material presents the essential
oneness of the curiosity of the visitor and the quest of the pilgrim.
In the bonding power of the cross all things become embraced.

The booklet acts as guide, retreat material and keepsake. Taking the
cruciform shape of the Cathedral the guide provides five places for
prayer : the four points of the cross (West End, South Door, North
Transept/Columba Chapel and Chancel/East Window) and the crossing
It can help for a few moments to be prayerfully aware of place, God,
others and ourselves or it can be a springboard to a longer meditative retreat.
